Asher Suites

Brand Identity Design and Website Design
Project Overview
A start-up business that sells organic foods, clothing items, and beddings. I worked on the logo and custom graphics of the business.
The Goal
My main goal during this project was to develop a brand identity that radiates quality, excellence, and sophistication. Considering the business owner's diverse product line addressing basic human necessities, I focused on creating a brand presence that consistently embodies high quality across all interaction points.
I conceived the notion of incorporating a relatable icon and crafting narratives around it. My goal was to convey that my client's product is an indispensable and versatile asset in all aspects of life. This inspired the choice of the butterfly as their emblem. However, I didn't settle for just any butterfly; my aim was to communicate elegance and sophistication, leading me to select the Monarch Butterfly.

The logo is a combination of a Monarch Butterfly (the king of all butterflies) and the brand name (Asher Suites). Butterflies are beautiful-winged creatures that exists in all continents except Antarctica. They can be found virtually everywhere. This knowledge birthed the brand's tagline:  "Royalties everywhere!"

The brand color are Black, white and Gold: In color psychology, black is symbolic of Power, Elegance, mystery and sophistication while the color gold is cousin to the color yellow and is also associated with glamour, wealth, grandeur, and prosperity.

A Challenge

Asher Suites needed a website on which her goods can be displayed. The company has their store running on a popular e-commerce platform in Nigeria called Konga Store but all they can do on the platform is sell while the platform is responsible for the delivery of the goods and marketing. The company owner realized that Konga's delivery service is perfect but the marketing services in not that good hence, a website is needed to help reach a larger audience at a lower cost than paying for Konga Store marketing Services. It will also help build trust and credibility with customers, showcase products and services, and to provide information about the brand.

I decided that a CMS platform would be the best choice in building this website because my client will need to constantly update their inventory so I decided to use Google Sites to develop the website. I helped my client in categorizing her products and ensure each product listed on the site is linked to the same product on Konga Store and added a live chat feature to the site so that clients can make custom orders from the site. A form feature was added by linking a Google Form to the site and the blog site was designed on Blogger. I deployed the site and the blog site on Namecheap. The project is still a work in progress and subsequently, I will be handling their social media and blog post design as time goes on.

A Challenge

I was challenged to imagined a scenario whereby I've been hired by a small school that is about to host their next Inter-house Sports Competition. The school wants to get support from parents of students who are interested in providing financial support towards the success of the competition. In order for the school to be objective in their request for support, the school decided to list all the items (with the unit cost and quantity) that would be required to host the event. The list is meant to be sent to parents. Parents are expected to select the items they wish to support the school by paying for the cost and quantity of items selected.

Unfortunately for the school, they only have the list on paper. This means that the school does not have any means of communicating with a parent about what other parents have paid for. In order to make the process transparent, they decided to develop a web application that parents can access with a browser to select items they wish to pay for. Items already paid for would no longer be available for selection. All payments are to be done online.

Tools: Figma
I made a low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototype in Figma. This prototype demonstrates the flow of a user (Parent) seeing the list of items (uploaded by the school) with the ability to select desired items, and quantity and make payment. The prototype also features a basket/shopping cart and present the user with an e-commerce checkout experience. I added some interactivity to the prototype so that people looking at it can get a feel of what it would be like to use this interface on the final product.

Conclusion

I was to finish the task within 3 days. I had to deny myself some sleep to achieve that; I had to stretch myself! I was suppose to submit a video but unfortunately, I couldn't catch up with the lifeline. I was done on the third day but, I couldn't submit on time because I had to make multiple recordings for my presentation which made be miss the lifeline by a few hours.
I learned a lot in the process. It was awesome taking the challenge!
